How, if ever will you notice…you’re home?

maze

it’s not like before or is it…?

At the edge of a hole watching raindrops fall onto a face
looking up expectantly; you weep into a yesterday pool
your fist wet and shaking…

a sun can be so rude to water…

In a desert, nitrous fills a tent with folly words, and drug
angels pass out heroin until everyone floats like joyriders
tuned to entertainers posing as right wing saviors.

and then much later…

You bump up an endless staircase into strangers, sometimes
stopping, but mostly ignoring any eye that ignores yours.
You just want to get home, near a heater and stay warm.

but at home you wonder…

Who is more lonely – someone who lives in a dog house or
someone locked on a subway – sleep crumbs in their eyes;
surrounded by names they’ll never learn, everyone busy…

  1. “joyriders tuned to entertainers posing as rightwing saviors”… luscious. But, I warn you, too much Ted Nugent will rot your brain.

  2. i liked ‘a sun can be so rude to water’ and what lead up to it.

At the end, I wanted another line. But maybe it’s meant that way, the same way someone on the subway would want a line of communication, an acknowledgement, a hello.

  3. this snakes, moves so very well.
